Beverly Conservation Land Trust (BCLT)
Scott Houseman is a co-founder and board member of the Beverly Conservation Land Trust, a private non-profit organization dedicated to promoting conservation, creative land protection and public education about natural resources in Beverly. By educating the public and partnering with the city’s Open Space and Recreation Committee and with other land trusts, BCLT provides an alternative to developing remaining open spaces.
Notable BCLT efforts include:
- Becoming trustee of a 6 acre parcel next to Cove Elementary School. This stewardship role is brand new. The parcel will provide a wonderful site for outdoor enjoyment and conservation education to Beverly public school classes, the Boy Scouts, and the general public.
- Obtaining major funding for the “Shoelace” Walkway around the Cummings Center Shoe Pond.
- Earth Day collaboration with the Beverly Conservation Commission regarding Vernal Pool education at the Beverly Commons.
- Supported the City of Beverly in obtaining funds for kiosks at Centerville Elementary School and other city owned conservation land for trail signs and conservation education.
