The Issues
Senior, Human Services and Veterans
“We owe a great deal to our senior citizens and our service members and veterans. We have a great responsibility to care for the vulnerable among us, and to those who care for them. They deserve more than just our respect. They need a compassionate and engaged advocate who understands the challenges they face.” ~ Scott Houseman
It is important to provide stable funding to government programs that provide assistance to seniors, to service members and veterans, and those unable to care for themselves. But funding programs is not a silver bullet. Simply navigating these programs, to receive their well-intended benefits, can sometimes be difficult. Scott knows this well, from his efforts to help his sister who has multiple sclerosis. He encountered government red-tape, and with the help of the state representative’s office, he cut the red-tape, and got her the help she needed.
Scott will work on:
- Constituent outreach, support, and advocacy for Beverly residents who need help securing benefits
- Providing stable and secure funding for programs that give assistance to people in need
- New ideas to provide effective human services, including partnering with non-governmental groups
