Scott's Vision

My campaign comes from the heart. Recently, I helped a family member with Multiple Sclerosis deal with maddening defects in our state Medicaid regulations. But, with help from the State Representatives’ office, I managed to change those regulations, and change my sister’s life, by moving her to live near my family. So I know government can be both broken, and it can be fixed.

My vision to be your State Representative is simple: to work hard, with you and for you, with a good heart and diligence. I believe:

• Beverly needs a representative who will actively reach out as well as respectfully listen.
• Beverly needs an independent advocate with the political courage to vote to improve a budget system that is structurally unsustainable.
• Beverly needs someone who has been active in our community for years, who has worked with local leaders, and knows the needs and the strengths of our community.
• Beverly needs a representative who will work hard to secure a strong future for the city and a high quality of life for all our citizens.

As your State Representative, I will follow some simple guidelines:

• Good ideas don’t recognize party boundaries.
• Holding out for perfect legislation is enemy of the achieving better legislation.
• Don’t waste the power of the office; try to accomplish some big, important goals.
• Don’t be cynical, government can be broken, but it can also be fixed.
